Seasonal Winter Blooms

Everyone seems to think there are no seasonal flowers to be found in the winter.  But this is just a common misconception.  Just because it’s winter in the tri-state area, there are other parts of the country with much less mild winter seasons.  Some flowers are grown in a greenhouse despite harsh winter conditions just outside. Our top picks for this time of year are anemone and quince.

A grand statement when mixed with dripping amaranths.

Quince is one of the first flowering branches to start the year. It is often first available at the start of Christmas or just after. The branches are very and make for added volume to the room. There are two colors; a classic white and a shade of peach. The best part is these last for a while, often a good 3 weeks or more (especially if you change the water every couple days). They world so well in public spots such as a restaurant/hotel or anywhere with a high ceiling . Quince branches are only available at your local florist or to those in the industry.

Another winter season beauty are anemone flowers shown below in this bouquet. The colors are exceptional, some of them almost look fake because they are just so beautiful. These flowers are one of the first bulb types to start the season. We love to use them in special events as they add such a bold pop to the design. We only wish they were a little longer lasting. Although anemone is a premium flower, you can sometimes find them in the flower section of a supermarket. We have seen them at Whole Foods Store once or twice.
